Justice Gone To The Dogs

As of this writing, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is reportedly close to reaching a plea deal under which he could serve as much as a year in jail for his participation in a Virginia dogfighting ring. Meanwhile, Mary Winkler, who admitted shooting her preacher husband to death last year was just released from jail after serving just 67 days for blowing her man away while the kids were in the house. Sixty seven days for murder. One year for dogfighting. Equal justice? You tell me.

Or maybe even more repugnant is fact that those convicted of aggrevated child molestation usually get substantially less time than an NBA raf that shaves points. It should't be to strange though. Like Rome we value our Sports more than our fellow man.

Yeah, Mary Winkler was only charged with voluntary manslaughter, not murder (of any degree). Thus, the light sentence. Either way, if she was tried by a jury of her peers, and the judge sentenced accordingly, justice has been served in the most American way. If he pleas, we have to assume Vick is so guilty he stands to benefit from not facing trial. Also, fick faces several felony charges, not just one.
